MoCo Jrs Volleyball Club at WorkHub | A Tenant Story

Written by Workhub | Jun 5, 2026 4:37:25 PM

Joe Lind is a sports entrepreneur who has successfully transformed his passion for athletics into a project that inspires and supports hundreds of young athletes.

Through Montgomery County Juniors Volleyball Club (MoCo Jrs VBC), Joe has built much more than a club, he has created a platform for athletic, personal, and community development.

First Set: The Beginning of a Passion

Joe Lind’s story begins in Minnesota, where he first discovered his love for sports through track and field. It was there that he learned the discipline, commitment, and competitive spirit that shape great athletes. However, volleyball came into his life almost by chance.

After receiving an invitation from a friend, Joe decided to join a volleyball team without realizing that the sport would soon become much more than a game, it would become a way of life.

His dedication and talent led him to play for six years at North Dakota State University (NDSU), where he earned recognition as a three-time All-NIVC Conference Middle Blocker and competed in high-level tournaments such as the Adult USAV Opens. But his journey in volleyball would not end as a player.

After completing his studies, Joe received an invitation from Sam Houston State University to begin working as an assistant coach, marking the start of a new chapter in his career: developing the next generation of athletes.

The Birth of MoCo Jrs VBC

The idea for MoCo Jrs VBC emerged when Joe recognized an opportunity to develop a high-level volleyball program in the Conroe and Montgomery County area of Texas. In many communities, access to quality training programs can be limited, and Joe saw a chance to make a difference.

In 2021, Montgomery County Juniors Volleyball Club was founded with a clear mission: to serve the local communities of Willis, Conroe, and surrounding areas by providing young athletes with the opportunity to learn and compete in a positive, family-oriented environment.

Joe also emphasizes that the growth of the club has not been a solo effort. A key part of its success has been the teamwork with his co-director, Andrea Tischendorf, with whom he has built the organizational structure that supports the program today.

The name MoCo Jrs VBC reflects the club’s strong connection to Montgomery County and its community, something Joe believes is essential to the club’s purpose and identity.

“Ten of our U18 players have received university offers to continue both their academic and athletic careers, moments like these reflect our true mission: creating opportunities that can shape a young athlete's future." Joe Lind

Groth On and Off the Court

Since its founding, MoCo Jrs VBC has experienced significant growth. In its inaugural 2021–2022 season, the club began with just four teams. By the 2022–2023 season, the program had expanded to eight girls’ teams and one boys’ team.

The growth continued rapidly. In the 2023–2024 season, the club reached 14 girls’ teams and two boys’ teams, while also introducing a developmental program focused on training younger athletes and preparing future competitors.

Today, the club includes more than 300 children and young athletes across multiple teams, ranging from six-year-olds to players aged 17 and 18. The program combines elite-level competition with developmental programs designed to nurture talent at different stages.

In addition, the club operates two satellite teams through partnership agreements that expand its presence in the region. MoCo Jrs VBC has also established a partnership with Adidas, which provides official uniforms for the teams during competitions.

More Than a Club: A Sports Hub

As the program grew, so did its vision. This led to the development of what Joe calls the MoCo Sports Hub, a sports facility designed to host training sessions, games, and tournaments. While volleyball remains the heart of the project, the facility is also equipped to host basketball and pickleball competitions—two sports that continue to grow in popularity.

This multisport approach has helped transform the center into a true community hub, creating a space where athletes, families, and sports enthusiasts can come together.

Developing Athletes, and People

For Joe Lind, the success of MoCo Jrs VBC is not measured only in trophies or rankings. His greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the growth and development of his players as individuals.

His coaching philosophy reflects the mindset he tries to instill in every athlete. Competing at a high level means that expectations exist, and those expectations are opportunities to grow.

He also encourages his athletes to view challenges differently moments of pressure and intensity are not obstacles but signs that something meaningful is happening—whether it’s a big game, an important tournament, or an opportunity that can shape a player’s future.

Joe focuses on developing his players’ volleyball IQ while also teaching values such as teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and respect.

As he proudly shares, one of the club’s proudest achievements is that ten of their U18 players have received offers from universities to continue their academic and athletic careers. For Joe, moments like these represent the true mission of the club—creating opportunities that can shape a young athlete’s future.

“It also fills us with pride to see our former players return home and choose to coach with us, helping develop the next generation of talent.”

Sports and Business

Beyond coaching, Joe also sees himself as a sports entrepreneur who understands that building a successful organization requires more than expertise on the court.

He emphasizes the importance of learning from professionals in different areas of business in order to make better strategic decisions.

As he explains, seeking advice and surrounding himself with experts in finance, administration, and marketing has helped him strengthen the organization and apply valuable insights to the club’s growth.

For Joe, this mindset of continuous learning has been key to building a sustainable organization and ensuring that MoCo Jrs VBC continues to grow in a structured and professional way.

Challenges and the Vision Ahead

The Houston area has a large number of volleyball clubs, making competition for talent and recognition very strong. However, through dedication, strong leadership, and a committed team, MoCo Jrs VBC has positioned itself as one of the most competitive programs in the region. Looking ahead, the club is also working to create showcase opportunities with universities, allowing their athletes to demonstrate their talent in front of college programs and continue opening doors for their academic and athletic futures.

Joe also highlights the crucial role of the families who support the club. Their involvement and encouragement have been essential in building the positive environment that defines MoCo Jrs VBC today.

“For me, the success of MoCo Jrs isn´t measured only in trophies or rankings, my greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the growth and development of our players as individuals." Joe Lind

As the club has grown, having the right partners by their side has made all the difference. Joe highlights the excellent customer service and support the WorkHub®  team has provided, allowing the club to run smoothly and continue expanding its positive impact throughout the community.
