Every Drop Counts
How a Father-and-Son team is helping turn data into better margins
In the restaurant business, profitability is often determined by the smallest details. While operators closely monitor food costs and labor expenses, one category has remained surprisingly difficult to control: beverage inventory. Hidden losses, inconsistent pours, and manual inventory counts quietly erode margins every day, often without anyone noticing until the monthly reports arrive.
Liquid Insight Demand Sensors Incorporated (LIDS inc.) was created to change that.
LIDS inc. is more than a technology company, it is a family business dedicated to transforming beverage inventory management for the hospitality industry. Built on a shared vision between father and son, LIDS inc. was founded three years ago as the sales and distribution company, and its sister company, Liquid Insight, was established five years ago to invent and develop the technology behind the platform. Together, the two companies combine innovation with market expertise to give restaurants real-time visibility into one of their most overlooked profit centers, helping operators reduce beverage loss, improve inventory accuracy, and increase profitability.

“We wanted to build something that would leave a lasting legacy,” explains co-founder Rudy Ramirez. “Not just another business, but a solution that genuinely helps operators make better decisions.” Rudy Ramirez
Rudy brings more than 35 years of commercial leadership experience, having led business development and sales initiatives throughout the United States and Latin America for global technology and telecommunications companies such as AT&T, Panasonic, and Samsung. Throughout his career, he witnessed firsthand how technology could transform industries, but he also recognized that many operational challenges in the foodservice sector remained largely untouched.
That realization became the foundation for LIDS inc. and Liquid Insight.
The company’s momentum accelerated when Rudy’s son, Isaiah Ramirez, joined the business. Bringing technical and operational expertise and a fresh perspective, Isaiah helped transform the original concept into a scalable sales/distribution platform. Together, LIDS inc. and Liquid Insight combined decades of commercial experience with modern engineering to create a solution that addresses a problem most operators had simply accepted as part of doing business.

The Road to Market
Developing the first working prototype required three and a half years of research, testing, and continuous refinement. Early validation came when a location belonging to one of the world’s largest hamburger chains agreed to pilot the technology, giving Liquid Insight the opportunity to demonstrate measurable operational improvements in a real restaurant environment.
That experience reinforced one of the company’s defining strengths: continuous improvement.
“Our product has evolved significantly in a relatively short period of time,” says Isaiah. “That has only been possible because we’ve remained committed to listening, improving, and never stopping the development process.”
At the heart of the platform are wireless sensors that sit beneath Bag-in-Box (BIB) syrup containers or around beverage kegs. Every three minutes, the sensors automatically measure inventory levels and transmit the data wirelessly to a LIDS inc. hub, which securely uploads the information to the cloud. Restaurant operators can then monitor live inventory levels through a web browser or mobile dashboard.

Installation is intentionally simple. There are no plumbing modifications, no drilling, and no changes to existing beverage systems. Most locations can be fully operational in less than an hour.
The real value, however, lies in the intel the system provides.
Traditional beverage inventory relies heavily on manual counts performed several times throughout the day. These counts depend on visual estimates, making inaccuracies almost inevitable. More importantly, operators typically discover discrepancies only after losses have already occurred.
LIDS inc. changes that equation. By continuously monitoring inventory, the platform enables managers to identify unusual consumption patterns, detect shrink in real time, improve pour consistency, and make informed replenishment decisions before small losses become significant costs. For multi-unit operators, the impact becomes even greater. What may seem like a minor amount of syrup waste in a single restaurant can translate into substantial financial losses when multiplied across dozens—or even hundreds—of locations. Access to precise, real-time data gives decision-makers a level of operational control that was previously unavailable.

Educating the Market
Like many companies introducing disruptive technology, LIDS inc. faces a challenge beyond product development: educating the market.
“The biggest hurdle isn’t the technology,” Isaiah explains: “It’s helping customers understand how they can use it and the value it can create for their business.” That challenge is particularly relevant in an industry where many operational routines have remained unchanged for decades. Convincing businesses to replace manual processes with automated intelligence requires more than innovation—it requires trust, measurable results, and ongoing education.
Looking ahead, LIDS inc. sees significant opportunities beyond the United States. Latin America represents a promising market, where digital transformation within the foodservice industry is still gaining momentum. As restaurant groups increasingly seek ways to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs, technologies like LIDS inc. can deliver immediate value through better inventory visibility and tighter cost control.
An Entrepreneurial Mindset
Underlying the company’s growth strategy is a philosophy rooted in adaptability.
“We have to remain flexible because technology never stops evolving."
Rudy Ramirez
“To create real innovation, you have to be willing to challenge conventional thinking and break the mold.”
The advice the Ramirezes offer aspiring entrepreneurs reflects that same mindset: develop a business plan and stay committed to it. Treat mistakes not as failures but as opportunities to learn. Every challenge brings lessons that strengthen both the entrepreneur and the business. Just as importantly, founders should clearly define their role within the organization—whether leading operations, managing the company, or building strategic partnerships—so they can focus on where they create the greatest value.
As industries become increasingly data-driven, operational intelligence is emerging as one of the most valuable competitive advantages. By transforming beverage inventory from a manual process into a continuous stream of actionable insights, LIDS inc. is helping operators protect margins, improve consistency, and make smarter decisions.
Sometimes innovation isn’t about creating something entirely new. Sometimes it’s about revealing what’s been hidden in plain sight—and ensuring that every drop counts.

A Place to Grow
For Rudy and Isaiah, finding the right home for their growing business was just as important as building the technology itself. When they discovered WorkHub Flex Conroe, the decision was immediate. It offered everything they were looking for: professional workspace, storage, operational flexibility, and, most importantly, the ability to grow. As LIDS inc. continues to expand, they know they can seamlessly move into a larger unit without disrupting their operations, a level of flexibility that aligns perfectly with the company’s own growth journey.
Every successful business begins with an idea, but the most inspiring ones are built on relationships, perseverance, and a shared purpose. The story of Rudy and Isaiah Ramirez is a reminder that entrepreneurship is often a family legacy as much as it is a business venture. At WorkHub®, we’re proud to be home to stories like theirs—businesses built on vision, resilience, and innovation that are creating a lasting impact on the industries they serve.
