In a “Cool” and energized conversation, we had the pleasure of diving into the story of Clarity ICE, an innovative company in the food and beverage industry that is breaking paradigms in ice production, as well as its founder, Rob Lane, who shared with us his journey as an entrepreneur and the plans for his company.

The Beginning

Rob shared with us that he began his career in the high-end bar and restaurant industry in Houston at 19. This early exposure to the sector allowed him to identify a key need for quality ice in beverages and cocktails. “The ice we used wasn’t of the best quality for such a demanding market. It often melted quickly or altered the flavor of the drinks. That’s when the idea came to me to develop a product that would preserve the essence of the beverages and wouldn’t melt so fast,” Rob explains. After hearing similar feedback from colleagues in the industry, Rob decided to take his idea to the next level.

Slow Melting Elegance

Passionate, energetic, and a lover of challenges, Rob spent years balancing his full-time job at Houston’s top bars and restaurants with the development of what would eventually become Clarity ICE. “I started by selling to friends and family until one day, Kirby’s Steakhouse allowed me to become their official supplier. That was the turning point for Clarity ICE,” Rob recalls.

With the support of his close circle, Rob refined his concept and expanded the range of products his company now offers. He achieved the ideal product after 10 months of groundwork and 3 months of testing. Today, Clarity ICE has an installed capacity to produce between 100,000 and 150,000 cubes per month, with plans to double that capacity soon. “My routine has changed radically. I went from working in restaurants and bars until 3 a.m. to waking up at 5 a.m. to oversee production,” Rob shares. At Clarity ICE, they firmly believe that a special drink deserves the perfect cube. “Our handcrafted ice provides exceptional clarity and lasting chill.” Each cube elevates the drink, transforming the act of drinking into a one–of–a–kind experience.

Growing Ice

Clarity ICE’s growth in recent years has been fueled by the trust of its customers and investors. Recently, Rob adopted a partnership model that has allowed the company to scale rapidly. “I knew organic growth would take more time, but with the support of my strategic partners, we’ve managed to scale the company quickly,” Rob shares.

Currently, the Clarity ICE team consists of four key collaborators and a network of mentors who assist with strategic decision-making.

“The name Clarity ICE always reflected the purity and clarity of our product. Our ice, crafted through a reverse osmosis process, is 100% pure,” Rob explains.

Rob also highlights the advantages of operating from WorkHub, a space strategically designed and purpose built for small and medium size businesses. “The proximity to my home and the constant support from the WorkHub team have been invaluable. They’re always there with solutions and recommendations for my business.”

The Future

The future of Clarity ICE and Rob is clear: to establish a strong presence in Houston and surrounding areas, double their production capacity, and strengthen their social responsibility efforts. “We want to give back to the community that has given us so much. That’s why we’re working on building relationships with charitable organizations to support their initiatives,” Rob shares. For him, one of the greatest achievements is seeing his team happy. “Having a company that creates jobs and being surrounded by an amazing team is a privilege.”
